Description
38 x 58.5 cm 1" x 23" with 19 cm 3 ½" hand knotted fringe both short ends. Cotton handwoven fabric with cotton embroidery mostly black with some other colours consists of 2 pieces flat stitched together and lined with cotton. Some soiling, some loose or missing threads. Label "Greek beige and brown runner 10" attached with safety pin. Clearly was used as a cushion cover, small label "2" removed, small label "47 D.Grant" with a green line was stapled on- removed;collected in Greece by Mary Ellen Palin "Nellie" between 1910 and 1927 while she was English governess to Lavria Averof;displayed in black case B
